HELPING LEAD THE NEXT GENERATION OF DIGITAL MISSIONS FOR THE MOVEMENT WORLDWIDE.

In 1991, Howard was enjoying juggling college life at Baylor University, playing football, ministering in his fraternity (ATO), & studying computer science. After his Sophomore year, he was challenged to take a year off of school to help launch Cru's college ministry in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Though both from Texas, Howard actually met Laura in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1991. both Graduated from Baylor University, then joined full-time ministry with Cru.

Howard and Laura have been on staff with Cru for 25+ years. They led within the high school ministry prior to being asked to join the Global Digital Strategies team. Now they are with Cru's Jesus Film Project Digital Team, working remotely from Texas.

Traditional Missions (since Biblical Times):

Get a pushpin and pick a physical location.

Get passport, buy plane ticket, relocate family, experience culture shock, learn the language, build relationships while you launch your ministry.

Digital Cultural Shift

The world is undergoing a major digital culture shift, where more and more of people's lives are spent online using digital tools.

If the goal of missions is to meet people where they're at with the gospel, then missionaries should be going to the digital world.

But, reaching the digital world typically requires a different kind of skillset and focus than what we've used in traditional missions.

Because of the internet, "closed countries" is becoming an outdated term.

We go to where the people are. And they are ONLINE. Welcome to Digital Ministry.

7 Billion People

“To reach people no one else is reaching, we’ve got to do things no one else is doing.”
